BABY FOOD COOKBOOKS

The BLW Baby Food Cookbook

New parents looking for a practical guide for introducing their infants to solid food have answers from dietitians and pediatric nutrition experts Ellen Gipson and Laura Morton in their first book, The BLW Baby Food Cookbook: A Stage-by Stage Approach to Baby-led Weaning with Confidence, published by Rockridge Press in Emeryville, California. The book is available from Amazon, Target and Barnes & Noble.

“This isn’t a textbook or technical manual; it’s written from the perspective of two moms to other moms (and dads) answering some of their biggest questions—beyond the basics. As a parent, you have plenty of concerns, but introducing your baby to a lifetime of healthy, happy eating doesn’t have to be one of them.”

~ Ellen Gipson, MA, RDN, LD, Author

The cookbook offers parents feeding guidelines to nurture baby’s oral and motor skills, introduce allergenic food safely, offer healthy serving sizes, help prevent picky eating, and more. This feeding philosophy encourages parents to complement their infant’s breastmilk or formula diet with real, whole, nutritious foods only after they show developmental signs of readiness, usually at or after 24 weeks old. The World Health Organization and American Academy of Pediatrics agree in their recommendation that infants be exclusively fed breastmilk or formula until around six months old.

“Ellen and I wrote this book because we too were overwhelmed when we began introducing first foods to our babies. We wanted to create a resource for others that simplifies the process and leaves parents feeling empowered. With BLW, we approach food with the big picture in mind, and focus on introducing whole foods for their whole life.”

~ Laura Morton, MS, RDN, LD, Author
